THE owners of a Highbridge furniture store will be officially opening their store to the public at a special ceremony later this month.

Sopha, which is based on the site of the old George Hotel on the A38 in Highbridge, took two and a half years to build and renovate.

The store went through a process of ‘soft launching’ in November 2018 and the shop's owners, Matt and Emily Scott have been training their staff and putting together the finishing touches before Highbridge Mayor, Cllr Bill Hancock officially opens the store on Saturday, April 27.

The store will be hosting a special launch event which is set to include live music and entertainment, street food and a craft fair, rides and inflatables for the children.

BARB Search and Rescue and firefighters from Burnham Fire Station will also be visiting the store and the first 100 customers will receive a free gift bag plus a raffle will see hundreds of pounds worth of prizes given away.

Founders Matt & Emily Scott said: “After almost three years of hard work on our building we’re really pleased to be able to officially declare our store open.

"It means so much to us that we’re a furniture store with a difference and we’re really looking forward to giving something back to the local community.

"We’d love to see as many people as possible coming for what we hope will be a great day out.”

Matt said the first stage of the launch of Sopha’s summer range plus a warehouse clearance and a range of special offers will be available at the event and some of the furniture manufacturers will also be making an appearance in store.

The event will take place in Sopha's large car park and the store itself and will also take over part of Bank Street.

Access to the Bank Street car park will be from Market Street only and parking will be free for those visiting the event.

Matt added: “In the lead up to the event and over the bank holiday weekend we will have a number of one-off offers on some of our existing ranges to make space for our new summer collections. We can’t wait to see everyone on the day.”
