SEE a double bill of exhibitions at Ilminster Arts Centre’s gallery this April, with Telling Tales by Stitch Textiles and Wild Landscapes by Margaret Micklewright.

Everyone loves a good story and artists are no exception as Telling Tales proves.  In this exhibition places, events, experiences and personal items have provided creative triggers for the Stitch Textile Artists, a longstanding group of textile artists who meet regularly and support each other developing their work.

A rusty mark on a bridge, a letter home, a tangle of brambles in a hedgerow – these are just some of the things that provoke a memory or spark the imagination.   Feeling inspired? The artists will be in the gallery from mid-morning on April 13 to talk to visitors about their work.  Everyone is welcome and admission is free.

Margaret Micklewright has been busy observing the effects of weather on wild landscapes around the UK, including the Scottish islands of Orkney and Islay, and Dartmoor. Her Wild Landscapes will be on display in the Gallery Cafe.  Painting in situ Margaret records her response to being part of the landscape using ink on wet paper and oils, creating powerful and atmospheric works that are unique to that place and to that environment.

If you would like to see their work, visit the Arts Centre from April 8 until April 27. To find out more, visit themeetinghouse.org.uk or call 01460 55783.
