A FOOTBALL match which pitted Burnham-on-Sea’s best football players and rugby players against each other raised more than £300 for a local charity.
Burnham United and Burnham-on-Sea RFC battled it out at The Bay Centre football ground on New Year’s Day (January 1) and raised £336.04 for BARB Search and Rescue, a rescue charity based in Burnham.
The town’s footballers were triumphant and walked away with a 6-1 win against the rugby club with Ollie Taylor bagging a hat-trick for United.
Burnham United tweeted their thanks to referee Dan Hunt and all those who supported the ‘Seasiders versus Stags’ fixture.
A spokesman for BARB thanked the players for raising the funds.
