A CHARD man accused of assaulting a female by headbutting her during an alleged serious domestic violence incident has had his trial date postponed until the New Year.
Daniel Stone, 30, of Bondfield Way, previously pleaded not guilty to a charge that on July 15 at Ilminster he assaulted the complainant, thereby causing her actual bodily harm.
The matter had been adjourned for the defendant to stand trial before Somerset Magistrates, sitting at Yeovil.
Prosecutor Ben Winzer said that the alleged assault was said to have occurred in a domestic setting during which Stone was said to have used his head to cause a “significant injury”.
As a result of the alleged attack the complainant sustained a broken nose and an injury to her foot.
The case had been adjourned for a trial to take place but on the day of the scheduled hearing the court did not have sufficient time to be able to accommodate it.
As a result the matter was relisted for the trial to take place on February 11 and until then the defendant’s unconditional bail was extended.
