IT has been a busy and very festive week in the village of Porlock.

On Friday night Exmoor Victorian Evening was held in the Village Hall with a capacity audience joining the performers by turning out in costume.

The evening was presided over by chairman John Hill and featured carols from a quartet of young children, amusing folk duo Martyn and Lorraine Babb performed, as did the Minehead Hand Bell Ringers and a tribute to Dylan Thomas from John Thorne.

West Somerset Councillor Ivor Jones said: "It was good to see that once again, Porlock produced a worthy evening of fun and entertainment by the village for the village. Full marks to all involved and here’s to the next one."

On Saturday evening, the seasonal celebrations continued with Porlock Late Night Shopping, which kicked off with a dozen Father Christmases taking part in the Santa Dash to the Top Ship. The High Street was packed and the shops were crowded with visitors. Mulled wine and mince pies were in abundance and a fine selection of hot dogs and burgers was available outside the Visitor Centre.

Then on Tuesday, the Porlock Community Lunch was a sold-out success. Denise Sage and her team of supporters put on a delicious meal at the Village Hall which helped raise money which will go toward next year's decorations and lights for the village.
