A BRIDGWATER family have this week told the Mercury of their joy over the birth of a healthy "miracle" baby that doctors warned them had virtually no chance of surviving.
Parents Lena and Philip Brentnall were overjoyed last year when Lena became pregnant and scans showed she was expecting a girl - a proud addition to a family already boasting two sons in Andrew, six, and three-year-old Matty.
But further scans in January showed the baby was experiencing a cystic hygroma - a severe swelling inside the womb which was placing severe pressure on the foetus' heart and brain.
At the time, doctors warned that the infant would be stillborn - but the family refused to give up hope and were recently celebrating the birth of a healthy young girl, Lucianna Grace.
