POLLING cards will be arriving shortly for Taunton and West Somerset voters.
The Somerset County Council election takes place on May 4.
Poll card will detail where your polling station is and how you can make arrangements for a postal or proxy vote. Anyone can apply for a postal vote, whatever their reason, so long as they submit an application form to the councils’ joint election team before 5pm on Tuesday, April 18. The deadline for a proxy vote application is 5pm on Tuesday, April 25.
Postal vote packs will be sent out from Wednesday April 19 to those residents who have applied to vote by post.

If you don’t receive your polling card in the coming days, you should check that you are actually on the Electoral Register by contacting Taunton Deane and West Somerset’s elections team on 01984 635276. The deadline for registration is midnight on 13 April.
Elisa Day, the councils’ electoral services manager, said: “Polling cards should be arriving through letterboxes in Taunton Deane and West Somerset in the coming days and I would like to remind local people who have registered to vote that there is still plenty of time to register for a postal vote or a proxy vote.

“If you haven’t yet registered to vote, there’s still time – just go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote before Thursday 13 April. It’s a straightforward process that only takes a few minutes to complete.
“If you don’t receive your polling card or have any queries about how to vote, then please contact our elections team who will be happy to help.”
