STAFF at a Burnham-on-Sea care facility were thrilled with their recent 'good' rating following a recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Neighbourhood Care, based in Burnham-on-Sea was inspected on January 11 and 12 and was graded on whether it was safe, caring, responsible and well lead.

The Burnham care facility, which provides home care for 18 residents, was rated 'good' in all areas apart from caring for which it achieved an 'outstanding' rating.

Barbara Kaczorowska, manager of Neighbourhood Care said she is 'proud' to work at the care home after the positive rating.

"I am so pleased that we got a good rating.

"We have a really good team of loyal staff who have worked for us for a number of years and they give fantastic care to our residents and make them feel comfortable in their own homes.

"Our staff are all very dedicated to their jobs and I am glad that this has now been shown in the report.

"We will continue to work the way that we do as we have had nothing but positive responses from our residents."

While carrying out their inspection, CQC inspectors spoke to residents, staff, relatives and health professionals: "Staff relationships with people were extremely caring and supportive.

"People said staff were extremely caring and kind.

"Staff went over and above their caring duties in line with the philosophy and mission statement of the service.

"Staff were motivated and inspired to offer care that was kind and compassionate.

"Health and social care professionals were involved in people's care to ensure they received the right care and treatment.

"There was good management and leadership at the service.

"Staff spoke positively about communication and how the registered manager worked well with them, encouraged team working and an open culture.

"People felt safe and staff were able to demonstrate a good understanding of what constituted abuse and how to report if concerns were raised.

"Care files were personalised to reflect people's personal preferences.

"People's views and suggestions were taken into account to improve the service."
