A PENSIONER was taken to hospital after a two-car crash.

The crash happened on Wednesday at 4.50pm on the C182 road near Brookside Road in Combwich.

Avon and Somerset Police and South Western Ambulance service attended the crash and a 70-year-old woman was taken to hospital as a precaution after suffering minor injuries.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called at 4.55pm to reports of a two vehicle crash near Crossway Farm in Combwich.

“A 70 year-old was injured in the crash and was taken to hospital as a precaution after suffering minor injuries.

“Recovery of the vehicles was arranged by both drivers.

“Highways did attend to clear some glass off the road.

“Everyone was away from the scene by 6.55pm.”

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: “One female patient was uninjured but was checked over at the scene.

“We attended with one rapid response vehicle.”

Mark Groom of Brookside Road in Combwich saw the crash happen and said the woman had a lucky escape.

“The car moved 15 metres when it was hit by another vehicle.

“The woman is lucky to be alive as it could have been a lot worse.”
