A BURNHAM-on-Sea resident has spoken of his anger and concern about a lack of parking measures on his street.

Gary Millard of Ramsay Way in Burnham-on-Sea says the amount of cars parking on his street is unreasonable and see's them as an obstruction.

He said: "Residents have been moaning about people's parking for between two and three years but no one is willing to speak out and do anything.

"I luckily have my own drive so I can park my car in there but a lot of drivers park very close together on the curb and some further into teh street and it is a nuisance having to put up with it.

"We have no parking restrictions on my street and people are just parking where ever they want to and it's not good enough."

Gary has said the parking has got to a level where on one occasion ambulances have found it tough to get up and down the street because of the improperly parked cars.

"I myself have been into hospital twice in the last year and have been by ambulance.

"The parking on the street makes it hard for vehicles like that to get down here and that is worrying."

The Ramsay Way resident also reported there are boy racers on the street who often speed and on a few occasions have endangered someone's life.

"The boy racers are here every night and morning and I don't mind the noise so much as generally I am up early in the morning but one time they nearly hurt one of my next door neighbors with their careless driving and I have taken it up with the police.

"I feel like someone on the street has to say something because otherwise it will just carry on, I have tried to contact the council and the police but I haven't received much of a response."

A spokesperson for Somerset County Council said: “At the moment there are no parking restrictions in Ramsay Way.

"As always we remind drivers to park safely and with consideration of their neighbours and other road users.

“If residents believe there is a road safety issue they should contact the local Town Council who can take this forward with Somerset County Council’s local Highways Office.

"If vehicles are being parked across driveways without the property owners consent residents can request enforcement action by phoning 0333 999 8889 and choosing option 4.”
