BRIDGWATER Choral Society are moving venue for their next concert as they prepare to sing at St Andrew's Church.

The group normally sing at St Mary's Church in Bridgwater but have been forced to move to the Stogursey church as their usual venue is undergoing renovation.

The concert on December 10 features a performance of Beethoven's Mass in C as well as performances of the Prometheus overture and Choral Fantastia.

Angelika Sivyer, organiser and singer in the choral society said she was excited to perform at the new venue.

"The lovely old church in Stogursey was chosen because St. Mary's church in Bridgwater, where we normally perform is still undergoing re-ordering.

"It is a privilege to sing in St. Andrew's.

"It is an intimate space which still breathes through it's Norman lungs.

"It is easy to feel transported to a time of dark, quietly lit by candles and imagine the sweep of dark robes.

"I am looking forward to singing the Beethoven.

"The mass illustrates something of what we imagine Beethoven's temperament to be; full of contrasts, light and dark, sadness and joy.

"It's refreshing to sing an alto line which often soars to more unusual heights, so I often return home after rehearsals feeling uplifted.

"It is always fulfilling to sing with an orchestra and the Beethoven promises to be even more exciting as the music explores the tones of a large company of instrumentalists."

Tickets for the concert are £10, under 16's go free.

The show starts at 7.30pm.
