A MULTI-million pound new nursing home has been officially opened.

Casa di Lusso Care home, part of N. Notaro Homes Ltd, opened its doors to the public in October and saw its first residents move in shortly after.

The open day was an opportunity for the public, professionals and invited guests to visit the much anticipated and talked about facility, which cost £10 million to develop.

Casa di Lusso was designed specifically for people who suffer from dementia, meaning it can cater for those who who struggle with the illness.

The care home was officially opened by Sir Benjamin Slade, who during his speech talked about how the new home will help alleviate an urgent need for specialist dementia care in and around Somerset.

Sir Benjamin commented on how great the home and its facilities were and was so taken by the stylish environment, he jested about reserving a room.

Kim Leech, manager of the new Casa di Lusso, said: “Since the first resident moved in, staff have been working tirelessly to ensure the home exceeds the fundamental standards set out by the Care Quality Commission and we’re aiming for outstanding”.

“We are over the moon with how well our hand-picked team are working together, they have quickly become a strong cohesive team.

“So much so that members of the team have already been promoted.

“Staff are inspired and encouraged to play a real part in a resident’s day, from domestics to the kitchen. Encouraging staff to share their hobbies and interests, or involving the residents in participating in the normal everyday chores as they would at home, everyone’s role is intrinsic to our residents’ happiness and wellbeing.”

The manager added that relatives of the families were really impressed with the level of care their loved ones have been receiving since the home opened.

Nunzio Notaro, founder of the company N. Notaro Homes Ltd, said: “We are resolute in providing excellent care throughout all of our provisions and strive for all of our homes to be outstanding in the near future.”

More than 230 guests attended the opening, hosted by N. Notaro Homes, including: the Mayoress, Cllr Liz Leavy, Deputy to the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, Rear Admiral Brian Perowne and a number of local councillors and members of the local NHS services, to name a few.

A guest at the event said:”Very impressive home, homely atmosphere and tastefully decorated”.

Another simply said: “Attention to detail, Luxury”.

A wide range of local businesses were enlisted to help with the opening.

Caterer, Charlotte Budd, Alight Balloons, Flowers International and Southwest Staging were just a few who helped make the event success.
