TWO Chard women dived 15,000 feet out of a plane to raise £2,000 for a breast cancer charity.

Tracey Murphy and Kelly Coller braved the tandem skydive last month to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

They have raised more than £2,000 for the cancer support charity through donations from friends and family as well as two successful fundraising events – a family fun day and a Royal Cream Tea Party.

Kelly Coller said: “Ever since losing my auntie in June 2014 to breast cancer, I have been slowly crossing things off my bucket list, trying to make the most of life and the opportunities it throws my way.

“Doing a skydive is something Tracey and I spoke about for our 30th birthdays. However, due to circumstances it didn’t happen.

“But it felt right to do it now, so we just booked it on a whim one afternoon over a cuppa and a catch up.

“The fact that we could both tick something off our bucket list and raise money for a fantastic support charity was just a bonus, so we got to planning how we could raise as much money as possible.

“The sky dive became even more poignant for me due to losing a friend the day before the jump to cancer. I was determined to make every second count.”

“I switched off any anxiety I might have been feeling and just enjoyed the moment, trusted in my instructor that everything would be OK and just went for it. I can hands down say it was the single most exhilarating experience of my life.

“It was mind blowing from start to finish. 60 seconds of free fall felt like a life time of floating on air. It was serene, it was a type of peace I have never felt before.”

Tracey added: “It is a great charity and I was proud to jump for it. The sense of achievement afterwards is fantastic and I would definitely do it again.

“Our feet still haven’t touched the ground after completing the once in a life time adrenaline-fuelled experience and are already planning their next challenge for charity.”
