BRIDGWATER College students received an ‘inspiring’ talk from successful comedian and broadcaster Iain Lee, who has worked for the BBC, Absolute Radio and talkRADIO.

Mr Lee spoke to staff and students about how he found stardom in the TV and radio industries, and gave tips of how to be a successful radio presenter during the talk at Bridgwater Centre.

Having worked on Channel 4’s 11 O’clock Show and Big Brother’s Bit On The Psych, Mr Lee now presents a late night phone in show on talkRADIO, and he passed on some trade secrets to Bridgwater Collage students.

Catherine Lawrence of Bridgwater College said: “His presentation was inspiring and emotive yet fun and compelling.

“Our students have benefitted hugely from his advice, especially at this time of year when exams are upon us!"

Having started his career performing stand-up comedy in London, Mr Lee then rose to fame presenting the 11 O’ Clock Show on Channel 4 which launched Ali G, Ricky Gervais, Mackenzie Crook and more.

Ms Lawrence added: “I emailed Iain a couple of months ago with a, perhaps, audacious request for him to come to Bridgwater and speak to our students.

“I was unsure how he would respond, but, I was delighted and somewhat surprised when he replied very quickly with a resounding yes!”

Mr Lee said: “The beauty of radio is that I get to work with people of all ages.

“One day, I will be talking with a caller ten years of age and then Dennis, aged 92 will call and provide his thoughts.

“Radio is appealing to people of all ages and that is why I love what I do.”
