AS A fairly new resident to Taunton, I have been most impressed by the way the Parks Department looks after Vivary Park.
The display this spring has been delightful – it lifts one’s spirits walking around it nearly everyday.
However, I was dismayed this last week to learn from talking to the gardeners that everything they lift is taken off to be composted.
What a dreadful waste.
Why do they not offer the public the chance of collecting some of the stock to put in their own garden or allotment?
I happened to have a carrier bag in my pocket and was able to fill it with a selection of tulips which in the autumn I will plant in our communal garden.
