THIS summer, Burnham and Highbridge Town Council is hoping to work with four local schools to design a range of flags for the town centre.

A part of the Tesco s.106 work and promoted by the Town Projects Committee, the idea aims to engage with a pupils of different ages.

Education coordinator for the project, Juliet Farnese, said: "The challenge is to coordinate the design of 30 new flags for the town centre.

"The designs must work together and add to the desire for a bright, welcoming atmosphere that celebrates the arts.

"It is great to be working with so many young people on this project.

"I hope that they enjoying seeing their collaborations on display during August.

"I have really enjoyed working with the town council on a number of design projects over the last year and this one brings them all together."

Pupils at St Andrews, Churchfields, Burnham Infants and St Joseph's will be invited to enjoy eight workshops with Juliet.

Their work will then be developed into the final designs that will be printed and displayed during August.

A trail guide to the flags will be published and it's hoped more businesses will participate in future years.
