MORE than £500 was donated last week to Taunton-based cancer charity Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment.
Organisers of the County Gazette-backed SURE, which buys equipment for the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital, spent plenty of time counting 5p coins presented by the Belvedere Centre, in Taunton, which handed over £30, Kath Else and the people of Porlock (£38), Lydia Easton (£1.45) and the Beacon Centre (£72.40).
Collection pot totals were £87.35 from Tesco Express, in Galmington, and £45.20 from Tesco Express, High St, Taunton.
A competition at Taunton and Pickeridge Gold Club raised £216 and N. Radcliffe left £15 at the Beacon Centre.
This week's total of £505.40 means £604,662.09 has been raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette.
