THE Minister for Disabled People Justin Tomlinson will be visiting Minehead to give a speech about the business benefits of employing people with disabilities.

Mr Tomlinson will be speaking at Foxes Hotel in Minehead at a networking event for regional businesses as part of the government's #DisabilityConfident initiative which aims to get a million more people with disabilities into work.

Guest speakers will also include Unilever marketing executive and former Apprentice contestant Pamela Uddin, who will talk about how she has overcome her learning difficulties.

Foxes Academy Principal, Tracey Clare-Gray said: “We're looking forward to welcoming the Minister for Disabled People, Justin Tomlinson. He's looking to offer his support and we can't wait to meet with him.

"One of the many hurdles people with learning disabilities face is a far higher than typical unemployment rate. "Here at Foxes we believe in changing lives and giving our learners the skills and knowledge to shape their own futures."

Foxes Academy's work was recently seen on TV in the critically acclaimed Special Needs Hotel which caught the attention of government and two of the academy's learners will share their stories.

The event takes place on Friday, December 4 between 10.30am and 1.30pm. For more information email doreenrudkin@foxesacademy.ac.uk.
