QUEEN'S College beat Taunton School in the first annual rugby match in memory of James Willetts, a former student at both schools who died aged 18 in September after a long illness.
Queen's edged the game 14pts-10 and their captain was presented with the trophy by James's father, Simon.
Mr Willetts said: “James enjoyed sport but, like so many of us, did not need to win to feel good because he knew someone had to lose.
“He was very proud to wear the Queen’s College uniform and the Taunton School uniform and experienced the rivalry between them from both sides.
“We chose rugby as we know that James would be proud that, whoever wins between the two schools, his cup would sit with one of them and that, win or lose, these two great schools – like the people who work there and like the ancient game itself – are united in far more than just wanting to win.”
Meanwhile, the family have set up the James Willetts Memorial Fund to raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity and this has so far produced donations totalling more than £20,000.
