CHILDREN at Wellington Prep School had a smashing time at the school's annual Conker Championships on Friday.
There was fierce competition as eighty children from across Years 3,4,5 and 6 pitted their strength and skill against each other in the tournament.
In the name of fair play, competitors were discouraged from soaking the conkers in vinegar or using the old 'slow-bake' trick and Jake Smith from Year 5 emerged triumphant to carry off the coveted 'Conker Bear Trophy'.
The Annual Wellington Prep School Conker Championships smashed into action last Friday when a hoard of excited school children rose to the challenge and pitted their strength and skill against each other.
Parents and pupils were then treated to a ‘Clash of the Titans’ competition between the headmasters of the Prep School and the Senior School - Henry Price and Adam Gibson. Last year saw an early clear victory for Adam Gibson, but this year Henry Price fought back in true gladiatorial style to achieve a spectacular triumph. Next year's clash is sure to be a tense contest…
