The reed fringed rhynes around Brent Knoll have claimed another vehicle. Police were called to the scene of a crash at Rooksbridge on the A38 on Saturday after a blue Chevrolet left the carriageway and plunged into the water-filled ditch.

The Weekly News understands there were no serious injuries caused to the driver and there were no traffic hold-ups after the initial incident.

The hatchback was travelling towards Rooksbridge near the entrance to the Mendip Business Park and the speed camera in the village when it crossed the verge and entered the water.

In September five different cars came to grief in the rhynes around the Mark and Brent Knoll area highlighting the dangers of driving along the narrow roads in the area.
