A DULVERTON wine bar and restaurant is raising a glass after winning a national award for an unprecedented sixth year in a row.

Woods Bar, on Bank’s Square, has been awarded the Wine Pub of the Year award by the Good Pub Guide for the sixth year running as well being named one of the Top 10 British Pubs for 2015.

They stock more than 400 wines from all over the world which range in value from £14 a bottle to others worth hundreds of pounds.Landlord Paddy Groves said the secret of their success was a commitment to quality.“You have to keep a high standard up and be very dedicated to what you do,” Mr Groves said.“We are lucky enough to have a great group of loyal customers who are willing to be adventurous with their wine choices.”Mr Groves said the success was a team effort and counted himself very lucky to have three highly capable chefs to cook English and French cuisine for the customers.Mr Groves ensures the quality of the products his chefs get to work with by providing them from his 100-acre farm.He said he was delighted to receive recognition from such a reputable organisation as the Good Pub Guide.“In this day and age it is very easy to hop on social media and offer praise or criticism it is a real honour to be awarded an accolade by a body who review in a traditional way.”

Mr Groves said that he hoped the success would help draw people in to the town.
