THE president-elect of the Rotary Club of Ilminster, Harley Pope, has handed over a cheque for £1,400 to support the vital work of Children’s Hospice South West, thanks to a golf day.
The money was raised during a recent golf day held at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club by kind permission of the owner Steve Hill and organised by Rotarian David Dick.
Nearly 60 golfers took part with the Men’s Cup won by Jason Contreras and the Ladies Cup by Barbara Wilton, the current ladies captain at Cricket St Thomas.
The competition was sponsored by local solicitors Broomhead & Sault who provided an all-important hospitality tent.
Harley Pope, presented the £1,400 cheque to Tamara Downes, community fundraiser of the Children’s Hospice South West when she visited the club to thank the golfers for their fundraising.
