WATER Zorbing, sailing and archery were just some of the activities on offer at the Wimbleball Sailing Club open day.

More than £2,600 was raised at the event for Sail 4 Cancer, a UK-based charity which provides water-based respite days and holidays for families affected by cancer.

Around 350 people attended the event which also included canoeing, paddle boarding and high ropes, as well live music from FoxWillow and Final Summit and cold cider provided Taunton's Sheppy's Cider.

Commodore Mike Green said: “The event has been a great success, not only have we raised money for an important charity, we have shared the joy of sailing with so many people from the community.

"After receiving a £50,000 grant from sport England this year for facility renovation, it is so important that people have the opportunity to get out on the water.

"Our biggest issue is letting people now we are here, hopefully this event will encourage more people to come and join us.”
