THERE have been plenty of donations to Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment over the past week, taking the amount since the cancer charity linked up with the County Gazette to £534,280.
Collection pots for SURE, which helps buy equipment for the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, raised £17.81 at Sainsburys, in Billet Street, Taunton; £4.22 from the Old Bear Restaurant; £32.01 from Taunton Country Shop, Bath Place; and £36.01 from Tesco Express, Comeytrowe.
A bucket collection in the Orchard shopping centre, Taunton, raised £137.20, while there was £50 from C. R. Howick; and £25 from the WI Book Club.
Collections of 5p coins realised £8.65 from Trinity Ferguson, aged 11; £16 from Creech St Michael WI; and £62.05 out of a total of £104.53 from Herta Abraham of Taunton.
Nigel Adlam handed over £70 raised at Bridgwater Academy by young footballers making a donation to be coached by a professional.
Other collection pots made £17.79 at Lizzies Kitchen, Burnham; and £6.83 at Styles Ice Cream, Burnham.
Oath witness fees donated from Stokes Partnership LLP solicitors of Crewkerne amounted to £63, while there was £111.95, including £89.15 in 5ps from the Beacon Centre.
