COUNCILLORS mean business for this year’s Party on the Park at Ilminster – they are going to have practice sessions in readiness for the tug of war competition.
The party – to be held at Ilminster Recreation Ground in Canal Way on Sunday, August 30, from midday to 8pm – will be packed with live music, food and drink, fun and games, raffles and prizes and a chance for people to find out more about local community groups.
But it is the annual tug of war contest which has sparked interest among members of Ilminster Town Council.
Councillors have taken part in the competition before with disappointing results, but new Mayor Councillor Rose Neave, has suggested they go again for glory.
The Mayor told the council last week that she knew someone involved in Tug of War who could give some “pointers on how to improve.”
