Firefighters from Bridgwater were called out to a report of snoke coming from an electrical board at a home on Fairfax Road.
Two fire appliances from Bridgwater were mobilised and found a smell of burning and smoke issuing from overheating cables in the electricity cupboard in the hallway.
Crews isolated the electrics and requested an engineer to attend from the Electricity Board, monitoring using a thermal image camera to check for hotspots.
A spokesman said that 80 per cent heat damage was caused to the cables.
