AMAN who was killed after he apparently lost control of his motorcycle at a roundabout on the A82, at the Balloch turn-off near Loch Lomond, on Tuesday was named last night by police as Alan Williamson, 38, from Hyndland, Glasgow. Police said no other vehicle was involved.

Born in Glasgow, Mr Williamson was the region leader of Marsh Risk Consulting for Europe and the Middle East. The company is a subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, a global professional services company with revenues of some GBP6.5bn.

A business profile of Mr Williamson appeared only last month in The Herald's sister paper, the Sunday Herald.

The article stated that he had recently been involved in providing risk consultancy for a major tourism project in the Middle East.

A songwriter and guitarist, Mr Williamson played in a duo called Molly

Splash, which had been due to release its seventh album this year.
