BUDDING poetry writers are invited to get involved in an event which will “help bring Crewkerne to life.”

First time, old time and good time poets, writers and performers are being sought to share their voice, ideas, stories and words in one or more of six free workshops The workshops are being run by professional performance poets Liv Torc, Jonny Fluffypunk and Chris Redmond from The Hip Yack Poetry Shack.

Material, words and poems created during each workshop will then be professionally crafted into at least 12 spoken word pieces, to be performed live in Crewkerne shops and town centre throughout the day on Saturday, May 16 by nationally renowned performance poets.

Workshops are free and there is no need to book a place - just turn up.

Workshops are taking place on: · Wednesday, April 8 - 6.30pm to 9pm in Kings Arms, 17 Market Square, TA18 7LG · Thursday, April 16 - 2pm to 4.30pm in Bilby's Coffee Shop, Market St, TA18 7JY · Thursday, April 16 - 6.30pm to 9pm in Kings Arms, 17 Market Square, TA18 7LG · Saturday, April 18 - 2pm to 4.30pm at the George Hotel, Market Square TA18 7LP · Tuesday, April 21 - 10 am to 12.30pm in Crewkerne Library, Falkland square, TA18 7JS · Thursday, April 23 - 2pm to 4.30pm in Bilby's Coffee Shop, Market St, TA18 The project is being organised by A Better Crewkerne & District (ABCD) and Hip Yack Poetry Shack with support from the Arts Council, South Somerset District Council, Crewkerne Town Council and Take Art.

ABCD chairman Diane Butler said: “ABCD wants to build on the success of last year's Theatre in Shops and bring more arts events into Crewkerne. Anyone with a desire to get creative with words can attend one or more of the free workshops and help bring the streets of Crewkerne alive with poetry.”
