FERNE Animal Sanctuary has announced the appointment of Elaine Hayes as its new Chief Executive.

Elaine began her career in the water industry and after a spell in business running a consultancy, she moved into the third sector as Chief Executive of a wildlife trust.

Since then she has worked for other charities, most recently as director of Living Coasts in Torquay.

Elaine said: “I am delighted to be the first Chief Executive of Ferne Animal Sanctuary in this our 75th anniversary year.

“The Sanctuary does amazing work re-homing and caring for unwanted animals. I am looking forward to developing the sanctuary - and planning for the next 75 years!”

Nanette Wale, chairman of Ferne's trustees said: "The Trustees are delighted to welcome Elaine to Ferne. She arrives at a very exciting time in Ferne's life as we prepare to open our New Digs for Dogs re-homing centre and begin to plan for the future.

“Elaine is very experienced in the field of animal welfare. We all look forward to working with her and implementing her ideas.”
