HOLYROOD Academy pupils took the opportunity to study at Gloucester College this month as part of the nationwide Engineering Education Scheme.

They were assigned a room for three days to work with chief engineer Peter Duncan, from Date Palm Developments.

Students set about solving the problem: ‘What method is the most energy efficient way of heating a growth room and keeping it at a stable temperature of 25 degrees?’ All the students worked hard over the three days, not finishing until after 8pm on both evenings.

Mark Easterling, of Holyrood Academy, said: “I am happy to report the students ably solved the problem and are continuing to develop the solution into a working prototype.

“I’d like to extend my thanks to Peter Duncan from DPD and Gloucester College for their expertise and resources.”
