BURNHAM businesses are being urged to get their frying pans at the ready to take part in a pancake race this Shrove Tuesday.
The aim of the race is to generate some healthy competition between trad-ers in the area.
Town centre manager Beverley Milner Simonds (right) said: “There will be a series of heats between competitors with those with the fastest times qualifying for the finals.
“There is a glittering, engraved frying pan for the winning team – and a special prize for the top individual.”
The event has already had three teams sign up and now organisers are urging more groups to come forward to take part before the race on Saturday, February 17.
Beverley said: “I am pleased that St Andrew’s Church, Avalon Insurance and Burnham Swim and Sports Academy are already limbering up with their teams of three already submitted, but we have room for a few more. “Our thanks go to Chatterbox Café who are supplying the pancakes.”
The event will be held from 11am on Tuesday, February 17, in Burnham High Street.
