STUDENTS at Haygrove School managed to raise more than £1,200 for Children in Need this year.
The day was nominated as a ‘non-school uniform’ day with a ‘superhero’ theme so everyone could wear their own clothes or dress up as a superhero for an optional £1 donation.
In addition to the ever-popular cake sale at lunchtime, some students came up with new ways to raise funds.
Some pupils spent the day with their legs tied together while others played ‘locker roulette’ which caused lots of laughs and lots of confusion.
Samantha Treharne from the school’s student fundraising committee said: “Every donation makes such a difference to children who are struggling for whatever reason.
“It is not only children who benefit, but also their parents, their siblings and the communities they live in.
“Just a stone’s throw from our school there is going to be a family who is helped by Children in Need.”
