SEDGEMOOR District Council will be hosting a series of meetings for local communities, to provide reassurance and information on flooding as the winter approaches.

The meetings form part of the 20 Year Flood Action Plan, set up after the extreme floods last winter, at the Government’s request.

The core presentation will be from the Environment Agency as they explain their Trigger points document which highlights the operational decisions to be taken in extraordinary flood conditions.

There will also be a short update on the wider work of the Flood Action Plan and then an opportunity for questions.

Cllr Duncan McGinty, leader of Sedgemoor District Council, said: “The Environment Agency has put together an easy to understand presentation about how the Somerset Levels and Moors work and at which points things happen.

“We hope that as many people as possible will take the opportunity to attend the meeting in Bridgwater.”

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 9, at Bridgwater House in King Square, Bridgwater, starting at 6pm.
