PLANS for a new 90-acre solar farm in Berrow and Brent Knoll have been approved by the council.
Developer Hadstone Energy intend to build the farm on land south of Wick Farm in the parishes of Berrow and Brent Knoll.
The plans were given the go-ahead by Sedgemoor District Council last week which will mean the new solar energy farm will be one of the largest in Sedgemoor.
The planning application stated that none of the properties nearby would be affected to the extent that the solar farm would be sufficiently oppressive or overbearing.
Cllr Tony Grimes, ward member for Berrow who also sits on the Development Committee at Sedgemoor District Council, said: “The main point we considered was highways access to the site while it’s being constructed.
“However we’re confident that there’ll be minimal disruption and once the solar panels are installed there’s very little involved in the upkeep and the maintenance.”
