A YEOVIL dental team have celebrated an epic 150 years of family dentistry in the local community this August.
The staff from Princes Street Dental Care marked the occasion by holding an open day in their practice for new and existing patients.
Dr Mark Hampson, a principal dentist at the practice, said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating 150 years of dentistry in Yeovil. The team and I are so proud of the practice, and feel honoured to be part of a business that has been so vital in the local area for such a long time."
During their open day the practice team spoke to new patients about their services, as well as holding a raffle and a book sale to raise money for charity. They were joined by two former partners of the dental practice, Mr Gilshenan and Mr Matthews, who took the opportunity to speak to some of their past patients and catch up with the latest developments at Princes Street.
Mr Gilshenan commented: “Princes Street Dental Care has been looking after the teeth and gums of the people of Yeovil since 1864, when it was based in the Medical Hall on the corner of Middle Street and the Borough. The practice relocated to its current home on Princes Street in 1919, fortuitously avoiding the destruction of its former location by the Luftwaffe."
Mr Matthews added: "It’s been a privilege to have been part of a great dental practice that has served the local community for such a long time. I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of all the past and present members of the team to thank all of our patients for their continued support and friendship.”
The practice has just benefited from the completion of a new dental surgery, complete with state-of-the-art technology to improve the experience for their patients.
