Man seriously ill in hospital after falling into Taunton Canal
A MAN is seriously ill in hospital after falling into the canal in Taunton this morning (August 29).
The ambulance service, police and fire crews attended the incident at around 5am this morning.
A police spokesman said: "A man had suffered a fit and fell into the canal at Canal Road in Taunton.
"A second man was also taken to hospital.
"He jumped in to try and rescue the other man.
"We are not treating the incident as suspicious."
Both men are now in Musgrove Park Hospital.
Fire crews used water rescue equipment, a ladder and dry suits to rescue them.
