MINEHEAD Museum’s latest exhibit was unveiled this month – a timeline of the history of the Old Hospital in The Avenue.

The timeline shows the many changes the iconic building has undergone since its construction as a public hall in the late 1880s. There are photographs illustrating some of the alterations, alongside scenes of hospital life.

The display is the result of research carried out by members of Minehead and District U3A.

They undertook a shared learning project with Minehead’s Museum Group and Minehead Development Trust members, who are campaigning to secure the Old Hospital as a community asset.

The project, started just over a year ago, is ongoing and continues to unearth a wealth of information.

Di Martin who is conducting informal chats with people who have a connection to the hospital, is keen to hear from anyone who has a recollection to share.
