STAFF at Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre in East Huntspill were pleasantly surprised to see a rare albino hedgehog come into their care as the number of prickly creatures arriving continues to rise.

‘Hottie’ the hedgehog was found by Suzannah Hollin on her drive in Taunton and she took it to Secret World.

Over 270 hedgehog casualties have emerged this year and staff are urging people to be aware when using machinery and pesticides in their gardens as the number of incidents is increasing.

The centre is preparing for the arrival of autumn orphans over the next few months as the days draw shorter.

Secret World is appealing for donations of tinned cat food to help feed the hedgehogs during this time.
