THE Minehead Summer Festival kicks off on Wednesday (August 13) where a range of activities is set to entertain all the family.

On Wednesday the seafront hosts the annual displays from 1.30pm featuring acrobatic Sea King helicopters, historic Spitfires, the awesome Red Arrows and fearless Red Devils.

There will also be an open day at Minehead Golf Club, the Acorn Folk Club will be in full swing at Jubilee Gardens and while Foxes Hotel will be playing Les Miserables music.

On Thursday the Somerset Nightingales perform at the Jubilee Gardens and Les Miserables opens at the Regal Theatre.

The usual farmers’ market takes place on Friday, as well as live music from Triplets at the Beach Hotel.

At the weekend there will be live music from Acoustic Roots and Route 66 in Blenheim Gardens with Chill performing in the evening.

The final event of the Summer Festival is the 35th RNLI Raft Race, where competitors will embark from Blue Anchor Bay to Minehead Harbour from 11am.

Organiser Cllr Richard Lillis said: “There is going to be a lot more going on this year.

“The buzz is already in the town and more holiday parks are asking for leaflets and looking out for the events taking place. We try to put on events to give visitors the best experience of Minehead.”
