THOSE interested in a career in medicine, midwifery, or nursing are being invited to spend a day with clinical professionals at Yeovil District Hospital.
Attendants at the three career days will be met by NHS professionals and also current students in the field of study, who will share their experiences and give a greater insight into their chosen career.
There will be advice on applying for medical courses at university as well as the chance to learn about simulated training.
The career days are being held in the hospital’s on-site Academy and are aimed at students in years 11, 12 and 13 for nursing and midwifery, and years 12 and 13 for medicine.
“We frequently receive requests for work experience placements in maternity, which we are not able to provide due to the sensitive nature of our work,” said Midwifery Practice Educator Sara Stride.
“These career days provide the perfect opportunity then for young people to find about roles in midwifery, as well as in other parts of the hospital.”
Each of the three career days will be career specific, in order to provide focused information, guidance and learning for attending students.
Attendance costs £50 for the day, to cover costs, a light lunch and refreshments.
Spaces are limited so those interested are advised to get in contact as soon as possible.
