A FIRE at a commercial building in Watchet containing gas cylinders sparked a major alert involving firefighters from across Somerset.
A fire service spokesman said three crews were initially sent to the building at Crossways at around 11.40am today, but extra help was called for after "heavy plumes of smoke" were seen.
The spokesman said the fire involved a spray paint booth and gas cylinders, and also affected a neighbouring building.
The fire, which started accidentally, was out by 1.45pm.
Firefighters from Williton, Minehead, Wiveliscombe, Taunton, Bridgwater and Street were involved.
