TAUNTON Deane MP Jeremy Browne is batting for King’s College, Taunton, in its efforts to build a community sports hub.
He met staff and friends from King’s at an event at the County Ground, home of Somerset County Cricket Club.
Mr Browne said: “King's College is establishing a reputation for sporting excellence – cricketer Jos Buttler, who was awarded a scholarship to King’s, has just made a century for England, and the King’s girls’ football team has just won the English independent schools championship.
“King has ambitious plans to build a new sports hub. It’s being supported by Sport England and they’re working hard to raise extra funds.
“King’s is particularly well-known for cricket and the hub will enhance their facilities.
“At the same time it will also be ideal for other sports and the building will be available for wider community use by Taunton Deane sports groups.”
