YOUNGER cadets from the Priorswood Platoon, in Taunton, hope to put their new signals skills to good use in a nationwide competition.

They have just completed their Cadet Radio Users course and have set their sights on winning next year’s Exercise Rolling Thunder.

Priorswood came runners-up in the annual competition held in the spring and hope to go one better in 2015.

Somerset Army Cadet Force Company training officer Capt Jon Beake presented the youngsters with their badges last week.

Platoon signals instructor Sergeant Mark Rhodes said: “The success rate and level of achievement has been fantastic. The cadets are really getting into their signals.”

There are opportunities for cadets from Year 8 and above and there is always space for more adult volunteers – contact the county HQ on 01823-284486 or visit www.armycadets.com/somersetacf
