A SPEED indicator sited in Broadway for 13 days recorded motorists driving at an average of 37mph through the village.
Thousands of drivers flouted the 30mph limit – 250 were measured travelling at more than 50mph and 7,000 were recorded at over 30mph.
Some 1,000 motorists were clocked driving under 30mph.
The device will return at least twice later this year and the data will be used to suggest speed-limiting action to Highways.
