A TEAM of golfers are taking on a 16-hour challenge to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Paul Neal, along with his son, daughter and daughter’s boyfriend, have signed up to take on the world’s toughest golfing challenge on June 20, starting from Enmore Golf Club.

The challenge will see Paul’s team tackle a 16-hour, 20-mile, 72-hole game of golf, starting in the early hours of the morning.

The Mayflower Kitchens and Bathrooms team will complete two rounds at Enmore Golf Club, near Bridgwater, before heading over to Oake Manor Golf Club, near Taunton.

Paul, who lives in Norton Fitzwarren but plays at Enmore and Oake, said: “We would like to thank Enmore Park Golf club and Oake Manor Golf club for allowing us to use their grounds to participate in this national challenge for such a worthwhile charity.”

Fundraising manager for Somerset, Genevieve Drinkwater, added: “The Longest Day Golf challenge is a tough event but for people who love golf there are few better ways to raise money for a good cause.

“The money raised from this challenge will help Macmillan support people affected by cancer in Somerset, so you’ve never had a better excuse to get out onto the course.”

In 2013, over 850 teams took part in the challenge and raised more than £780,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
