AROUND 90,000 sandbags have been cleared from flood-affected areas by Sedgemoor District Council and its partners.
Over 2,500 of these sandbags came from just a small number of properties in East Lyng.
A two man crew from Sedgemoor District Councils Clean Surroundings team have been operating almost continuously since the floodwater subsided to clear the sand bags and other flood debris.
They have also been helping flood victims dispose of damaged furniture and other belongings.
A spokesperson from Sedgemoor District Council said: “Sandbag removal is an extremely time consuming and physical task and one that is not normally completed by local authorities after sandbags have been issued to households.”
