THE grounds of Nynehead Court are now home to another rare species of tree.

A Patagonian Cypress (Fitzroya Cuppressoides), normally found in Chile, has been grown by James Harris and his wife Primrose Mallet-Harris, owners of Mallet Court Nurseries in Curry Mallet.

It was planted in the Pinetum at Nynehead Court last week.

Home manager Angela Watkins said: “We are privileged and honoured to have been given such a rare specimen, which makes a wonderful addition to our established Pinetum, now with 58 rare trees.

“This magnificent collection will be viewed by the International Dendrology Society during its tour of the UK in June and is something which I am sure will be of particular interest to all guests who take part in our garden tours.”
