POLICE have appealed to an anonymous rape victim to help them catch her attacker - almost 50 years after the incident.
The woman has written to police claiming she was raped in Taunton in 1968 - 46 years ago.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "She had been walking home when she was offered a lift and was then taken to a quiet location and attacked.
"The details are taken from an anonymous letter sent to the police and detectives now need the victim to contact then."
The victim first came forward in in 2012, when she contacted Crimestoppers, but police said they had too little to go on at the time.
The woman is asked to contact Taunton Police on 101.
