MOTORISTS are being warned not to leave valuables in unattended cars after figures showing 60 thefts from vehicles in Taunton since the start of the year.

Items such as laptops, wallets and mobile phones have been taken in attacks around the town, with Priorswood, the Bindon Road area and Firepool all being hit.

Insp Bob Muckett said: “It’s very sporadic and we’re doing all we can to identify the culprits with forensic recovery, proactive patrols and capture cars.

“But the message to people is, ‘Don’t leave anything valuable in your car – or if you really have to, lock it in the boot’.”
